The determination of blood-proteins by acid-acetone.

چکیده
DURING the course of experimental work with various methods for the determination of total protein in blood-plasma and serum, an endeavour was made to weigh the protein resulting from precipitation with trichloroacetic acid followed by washing with alcohol and ether. The results, compared with the direct gravimetric method of Knipping and Kowitz [1924] as modified by Starlinger and Hartl [1925], and the total nitrogen as determined by the Kjeldahl process, were invariably low, the following being a typical example.

Determination of the Acetone Bodies in Blood.*
Comparatively few methods are available for the determination of the acetone bodies in blood. Marriott (1913-14, b) has described a method by which the nephelometric technique described by him (1913-14, a) could be applied to the determination of these substances in blood. Scott-Wilson’s reagent was used in this determination (Scott-Wilson, 1911). Marriott used this method in studying the relat...

متن کاملThe Comparison of Acetic Acid and Strontium Chloride Procedures for Extraction of Hemin
Abstract Background and objectives: Hemin is a porphyrin compound derived from hemoglobin, the precursor of other porphyrin hemoglobin derivatives and the raw material of Hematin. Since hemin is widely used in medicine, we decided primarily to synthesize this substance in Laboratory and to determine the best way of hemin extraction from untransfused and expired blood units. Materials and Method...
متن کاملThe Determination of Acetone and Acetoacetic Acid in Blood by the Bisulfite-binding Method and Its Relation to Pyruvic Acid
Clift and Cook (1) have described a method for the determination of carbonyl compounds in blood as bisulfite-binding substances. Devised primarily for rapid determination of pyruvic acid, the procedure as described made possible the determination of acetoacetic acid to the extent of about 87 per cent, but acetonc could not be measured because of the instability of the addition product. Sufficie...
متن کاملA colorimetric method for the determination of citric acid in blood and plasma.
As early as 1897 the oxidative bromination of citric acid to form a brominated acetone derivative, presumably principally pentabromoacetone, was adapted to the quantitative determination of citrate (1). Most subsequent procedures have been based on the same reaction. Among the more recently described procedures are those of Pucher (2) and of Goldberg and Bernheim (3). These methods, with minimu...
